ISTE is
central in promoting the integration of technology in education,
representing over 100,000 educators in over 80 countries in the world.
As such, it offers a powerful opportunity for educators to connect
and participate in promoting the meaningful integration of technology
in education.
In additional to providing valuable information and sponsoring educational research, they host many special interest groups (SIG's) that specialize in particular aspects of educational technology. As a member, you can participate in forum discussions and connect with other educators around common interests. ISTE SIG's include: Teacher Education SIG (SIGTE): Serves professors and other professionals focused on teacher education with a peer-reviewed journal and other venues that address in-service training, research in computer education, and appropriate training materials” (Teacher Educator SIG, 2012). The SIG's publishes a quarterly peer-reviewed journal called the Journal of Computing in Teacher Education. Visit the SIGTE-Web Site or IGTE-Wiki Innovative Learning Technologies (SIGILT): “SIGILT enables educators, researchers, educational reform leaders, and learning technology innovators to share information about promising and proven new learning technologies. This group’s goal is to identify, compile, and disseminate that information” (Innovative Learning Technologies SIG, 2012). Visit the SIGILT-Web Site or SIGILT-Wiki |
